"Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of div ine goodness and love."
Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, page 66
Dear Camp Parents, Alumni, and Friends,
This summer, on June 22nd, I will be enjoying my 30th opening day at camp!
We all anticipate another wonderful and blessed summer filled with the spirit and love that camp so easily generates. The staffs are ready and willing to open their arms and hearts wide as campers arrive on Pyramid Point. This summer will be, as always, our best summer ever!
I am turning a significant page in my life. First, Spring Griffith and I will be getting married up here at camp on August 30th. This decision has been a beautiful unfoldment in our lives these past couple of years and we are looking forward to our marriage and the "divine goodness and love" it will bring to our families. Second, I have accepted a position at The Principia on their St. Louis campus as the Residential Head of the boy's dorm. Yes, I will be leaving the shores of Pyramid Point after camp and will be taking what I have learned here to St. Louis to make a difference in young men's lives. Spring and I are excited about this "successive stage" and what we can contribute to the Principia community.
Words alone cannot express my love for Leelanau and Kohahna, how they bless the world we live in today and what they have given to me over these many years. Thank you, each and every one, for your continued support as we all move forward.
I remain "Straight as the pine.Sturdy as the oak."
Sincerely,
Clark Shutt
From the Board of Trustees:
Clark Shutt has been a very faithful and special member of the Leelanau-Kohahna leadership. He was working at the camps when they separated from the Leelanau School and their existence was very uncertain. He did not shy from the changes at that time and has led the camps beautifully during their transition to Pyramid Point and their regeneration back to a sound operation. He has been a strong influence on the camps in working together harmoniously to remain two separate entities while sharing one location. Clark has been solely responsible for establishing and leading the Leelanau Outdoor Center which has enjoyed great success from its inception.
The spirit, the enthusiasm and the standards Clark has imparted will remain fundamental to all the programs at Pyramid Point. Many young lives have already been blessed by his dedication to Christian Science and his love for his work. There will be no end to the good flowing from the legacy of his leadership.
Our Board extends a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Clark as we wish him happiness in his new marriage and every success in this new position.
