This summer was my first at camp and the first time that I've ever been away from home for so long! At first I was apprehensive to go to Kohahna. I had no idea what the people and activities would be like. On my first day I realized that I had no need to worry. In an environment so heavily garnished with Christian Science it is impossible to feel afraid, alone, or unsafe. I was welcomed with open arms into the camp experience. Each person that I met during the summer was so incredibly supportive and loving. I look forward to returning to camp next summer!

I loved the camping trip my cabin went on with the cabin Driftwood, because I got to know that cabin more, and I learned what kind of sticks to find for a fire. I also liked lip-syncing, because it’s fun to sing with your lips and act out a song at the same time. I also liked being in a drama show, because our skit told a moral, which was fun to act out.
I liked the active schedule because it keeps you busy doing fun things, and expressing good qualities from God. I loved all of the food, and my favorite meal was meatloaf. I also liked going on a clue hunt for our missing dessert. My team came in second. The practitioner was very helpful and supportive. Camp was very fun!

Camp Kohahna truly is my home away from home, and I would never dream of spending my summer any other way. I absolutely love this place, I love everything about it, from dipping in Lake Michigan every morning, to taps every night, but my favorite part of camp has got to be the people. The atmosphere at Kohahna is so loving and caring. And no matter what you are going through, you will always have a whole family of Kohahna campers and counselors there to help you out.
At Kohahna, I know I can be the best I can be, without being judged, because everyone is family. At Kohahna, I achieve so much, whether it’s passing a level in an activity, or having a healing. At Kohahna, you never have to do anything alone, because you’ve always got people cheering you on. I am so grateful to be able to come to camp every year. Kohahna has changed my life, and the friends I made there will last a lifetime.
Kohahna has made me a better person, friend, and Christian Scientist, and I grow so much there. This year has been one of the best summers ever, and I am very grateful that I have been able to come to camp for seven years, and every year I love and appreciate camp more and more.

Coming back to camp for my CT summer was an extremely difficult decision for me to make. On the one hand, I had heard that it was an incredible experience and not to be missed. However, it would also mean taking the summer off from my music, which for me was a big sacrifice. In the end, I decided to come back and as it turns out, it was one of the best decisions I could have made. From the start, this summer has pushed me to excel and to better myself.
Whether it was building the new roof for the nature center, or canoeing through class 3 rapids in Canada, the CT program was constantly forcing me to step outside of my comfort zone and do things I have never done before. Over the summer, I have grown both in my physical endurance and my spiritual state of mind. The camaraderie that exists between the members of the CT class is a powerful example of the brotherhood that Leelanau so adamantly promotes.
The summer also gave me the opportunity to go on the senior flag trip, a physically draining, spiritually uplifting experience that I will never forget. Finally working with the counselors, especially Weldon Rutledge (a.k.a. Papa Bear), has been an enlightening and rewarding experience.
On the whole, returning for my CT summer was a decision that I will never regret and a decision that gave me the single most memorable summer of my life.

The thing I enjoy about camp is the loving atmosphere everybody has. I also like how easy it is to make friends. The atmosphere is great. You don’t have to be great at anything to be loved, because we are all striving to do our best. When I first got to camp, everybody said “hi” and gave me hugs. It made me even more excited to be here. Something else that the loving atmosphere helps is being homesick. You are here for a pretty long time so you might miss your parents. When you do, everybody comforts you and helps you out.
At camp, you also learn to help others. When you help others, it makes you feel great inside. You help out others a lot so it makes the camp atmosphere all the better. You also get into the habit of doing it, so you start doing it at home. This is what I love about camp: the atmosphere and loving attitudes.

Activities are one of my favorite times at camp. There are a variety of activities at camp, ranging from silversmithing to bordercamp, riflery to horseback riding, and more. The activities allow campers to express a sense of the true power and love in what they’re doing. It’s such a great feeling! My favorite activity is silversmithing. I like it because you get to make stuff with silver, copper, and rocks.
