Camping Friendships Strong and True

Getting together with camp friends has always been extremely important to me although getting together with them in recent years has been getting harder and harder. That is when a few of us started playing beach volleyball! Who knew the shores of Lake Michigan was putting out such high level beach volleyball players?
 What started as four of us getting together monthly for a two hour game has turned into twelve plus people playing, swimming, hot tubbing and dinner. In our last outing ten Leelanau or Kohahna alum from all over Southern California showed up for a great day of competition, story telling and camaraderie which felt more like a day on Pyramid Point than a day in So Cal.
As I sit here and figure out how our little group has grown so much I think the key has been two fold. 1. Getting the date on the calendar early so everybody can build the time into their schedule and 2. Good competition with a camp like atmosphere.
With in a week of our last gathering an email goes around asking what weekend works best for the next month. Once we get some feedback another email goes out solidifying the date. Once that is in place it is just a matter of what to wear and what kind of pizza to order for the gang.
There is nothing like spending the day outdoors with your friends. I am sure you can all relate!
